Dave DePottie brings a wealth of experience in Technical Consulting, Software Engineering and PG awareness to his role as Chairman of the Board for All Things PG. He is also Assistant Administrator and Group Expert for the Facebook Group ALLTHINGSPYODERMA.  As a professional Software Engineer and owner of Shenandoah Consulting, LLC, Dave has spent 40 years helping industry leaders navigate complex applications and databases.  His work includes developing advanced Windows and Web applications for medical research and scientific publishing, most notably as a Senior Software Engineer (contractor) for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), by creating the Publications Catalog, a combined searchable index for PubMed and WebOfScience databases of over 60 million records.

Dave developed Pyoderma Gangrenosum in 2015. With the support of his wife Michele and his family as caregivers, he healed three severe wounds over a period of 11 years that unfortunately left him disabled.  This lived experience reshaped his purpose from career to advocacy. Today, Dave dedicates his time to helping those affected by PG, by raising awareness within the PG community. Having personally faced the profound physical and emotional burdens of PG, he now focuses his leadership on providing guidance and emotional support on the facebook group and as Chair of the Board of Directors for All Things PG.  He believes no person should have to go through what he went through, caused by misdiagnosis and mistreatment.  Our goal with ATPG is to educate Patients, Caregivers and Providers on early diagnosis and treatment.

Working alongside Dr. Ortega and other PG experts, Dave is also a co‑author of two publication abstracts and posters, one entitled “The Emotional Journey of Living with Pyoderma Gangrenosum”, which has been circulated at many Dermatology conferences around the globe.  As a patient author, Dave was able to draw upon his own experience to help illuminate the Emotional Impact of this disease, from a patient perspective.  He knows from experience that PG is more than a skin disease.

Dave’s leadership is grounded in a strong technical foundation in Computer Science, earning his degree in Canada many years ago, and through years of professional and business experience.  As Chairman and IT Director for All Things PG, Dave applied our Microsoft nonprofit tenant and Azure grants to create a technology platform for the future.  His diverse background spanning software engineering, nonprofit leadership, patient advocacy, and community support makes him a key contributor working with the Board of Directors in advancing the mission and goals of All Things PG.
