Dave DePottie

IT Director, Secretary
All Things PG

Dave DePottie brings a wealth of experience in consulting, technology, and PG awareness to his role as Chairman of the Board for All Things PG, as well as being Assistant Administrator and Group Expert for ALLTHINGSPYODERMA. As a professional Software Engineer and owner of Shenandoah Consulting, LLC, Dave has spent more than 30 years helping industry leaders navigate complex applications and data. His work includes developing advanced Windows and Web applications for medical research and scientific publishing, most notably as a Senior Software Engineer (contractor) for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and PubMed databases for Thompson Reuters ScienceWire division.

Dave developed Pyoderma Gangrenosum in 2015. With the support of his wife Michele as caregiver, he healed three severe wounds that left him disabled and unable to continue working. This lived experience reshaped his purpose. Today, Dave dedicates his time to education, advocacy, and raising awareness within the PG community. Having personally faced the profound physical and emotional burdens of PG, he now focuses his leadership on providing emotional support and guidance to others living with the disease. He believes no person should have to endure this rare disease on their own.

Working alongside Dr. Ortega and other PG experts, Dave is also a co‑author of a publication abstract and poster entitled “The Emotional Journey of Living with Pyoderma Gangrenosum”, which has been circulated at many Dermatology conferences around the globe.  As a patient author, Dave was able to draw upon his own experience to help illuminate the Emotional Impact of this disease, from a patient perspective.

Dave’s leadership is grounded in a strong technical foundation in Computer Science and many years of professional and business experience.  As Chairman and IT Director for All Things PG, Dave and other board members have worked hard to establish a strong technology platform that will provide patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals with accurate information about PG.  His diverse background spanning software engineering, nonprofit leadership, patient advocacy, and community support makes him a key contributor to advancing the mission and goals of All Things PG.
